Bio -
Oh Suzannah has a sound of the raw beauty of early Appalachian music, bringing it to life with heartfelt simplicity. Their performances blend traditional tunes with original songs that shine a light on women's stories - both from pioneering days and in more recent times.
Led by Suzanne with warm vocals and guitar, Oh Suzannah also has Darryl Thompson on dobro and harmonies, and Dave Diprose on guitar, mandolin and harmonies. The band has also expanded on occasion to have double bass, and banjo from John Boothroyd.
Suzanne's song writing is steeped in history, reflecting the resilience and struggles of those who came before us, especially the women, whose voices have often gone unheard. Together the band honours the spirit of folk traditions while adding fresh and meaningful layers to the music, ensuring stories continue to be told.
